Siemens wanted to a sustainable, eco-friendly rail sign bag solution for its scheme in Birmingham.
Siemens approached IRSS after seeing a highway sector scheme using the CoverMe Road Sign Bags. The rail away sector has similar issues, where single-use plastic bin bags where being used to cover up their signs. These were then discarded at the end of a scheme and many were left trackside and not disposed of properly.
Siemens had a scheme at Birmingham New Street railway station and thought CoverMe Rail Sign Covers would be the ideal product to trial at New Street. Siemens were trying to reduce or remove the use of single-use plastics from their operations, and eradicate trackside litter. The other benefit of CoverMe was that they could be installed (and removed when needed) in seconds - all from ground level, thus also eliminating the risks associated with working at height.
